A labeled solid, documented component, coated substrate, powder, or process residue may each require a different recovery path.

ASM does not treat every nickel-bearing item as equivalent. Grade, concentration, separation, attached materials, condition, quantity, and available records all help determine whether a lot fits our purchasing program and how it should move.

Segregation Protects Information

Keep known nickel material separated from unidentified metal, shop trash, liquids, and incompatible residues. Preserve labels, heat numbers, specifications, and analysis with the lot when practical.

For powders, sludge, sweeps, or residues, describe moisture, oil, container tare weight, and the generating process. Never combine materials solely to increase gross weight; consistency and traceability support a more useful review.
